URBAN TRANSPORTATION: THE TYPICAL NIGERIAN RAILWAY SYSTEM (Train hustle)

Although I'm not a PHOTOJOURNALIST, I submitted this image for MO IBRAHIM SNAPPING CITIES COMPETITION as a mental note that it's high time we photographers started to get concerned about certain instabilities in our country -Nigeria, by using our pictures to not only generate income but to also send a message to everyone that there are certain ills in our society as is portrayed in this image.
It took me 3 months to get this picture. I always went to Agege Pen Cinema in Lagos, hiding in different corners. I finally got it at the 11th attempt which was also when I almost gave up trying. I settled for this as my best picture.

URBAN TRANSPORTATION: THE TYPICAL NIGERIAN RAILWAY SYSTEM. (Train hustle)

Urban transportation is a subsequent challenge impeding urban cities in Nigeria. Its social, economic, ethical and irrational behaviour among its people has caused a drift in settlement from the rural to the urban cities, which has led to congestion, overpopulation and other associated problems. The view of the landscape shows the daily experience in this region which has led to unsafe modes of transportation as shown in the picture above. Where persons have to hang and seat on the train roofs, sides and entrances, which is very dangerous and life threatening. It can also lead to death or serious injury from falling off the moving train, electrocution from power supply (overhead wires, resistors etc.), colliding with a railway infrastructure (bridges, tunnels, traffic lights or other trains) and unsuccessful attempts to jump from the moving train.Improvement should be made to the condition of rail transportation by providing more trains and rails to support the available ones, and positioning proper legislations and bodies to ensure convenient transportation methods
